Putnam Park Information
Putnam Park Road Course is a 1.8 mile road course facility located about 35 miles east of Indianapolis, IN just off I-70 in Putnam County. Putnam Park is a really good all around road course facility, especially for learning, lapping and testing. The track is a very good mix of challenging corners that have different personalities but flow well together. The Diasio family who designed, built, and operate the track keep very tidy but not lavish facilities and pay great attention to detail. The track pavement is in excellent condition and drains and dries very quickly in case of rain. The track is designed with smooth apex and track out berms that encourage the use of the entire track surface without upsetting the car with sharp edges and rough bumps. It was designed with a great deal of runoff room and very few guard rails or barriers to hit if you go off course.
The track is very popular amongst open and closed wheel professional racing teams for practicing. It regularly is used by automobile, motorcycle and go-kart groups and has become a regular stop of the “One Lap of America” annual event. Check out http://www.putnampark.com for more information about the track, photos and video and a corner-by-corner description by professional racer Ron Fellows. When visiting Putnam Park, be sure to check the photo gallery on the first floor of the tower building as it is a veritable "who's who" of driver, teams and machinery.
